1. Fernanda Ly (@warukatta)
Bubblegum Beauty
When Ly made her debut at Louis Vuitton’s AW15 ready to wear show, her attention grabbing pink hairstyle helped to make her an overnight sensation. The 20-year-old Australian model embodies the rebellious spirit of youth culture Tumblr girls with her mirror selfies, pastel hair and Neo-Gothic wardrobe. Having walked down the most coveted runway shows and graced titles such as Vogue and i-D, Ly is a determined model and is planning to pursue a degree in architecture.
2. Soo Joo Park (@soojmooj)
Peroxide Vamp
The peroxide hairstyle that is now ubiquitous on the catwalk was pioneered by the platinum blonde Korean supermodel. Park’s roster of catwalks includes the likes of Moschino, Tom Ford, Kenzo, Chanel and Oscar de la Renta, while she is also a DJ with her creative collective +82, which also includes Verbal and Yoon of fashion label Ambush. If Soo’s resume wasn’t impressive enough, she also became the first Asian-American ambassador of L’Oréal Paris, adding some much-needed diversity to the international beauty scene.
3. Akimoto Kozue (@akimoto_kozue)
High Priestess of Punk Glamour
Akimoto’s jet black fringe and fierce yet doll like facial features have landed her multiple covers and editorials in Vogue Nippon, Elle Japan and Nylon Japan. She was one of the main stars of reality TV show Shibuhara Girls on MTV Japan, with her rise to fame documented as an aspiring hopeful in search of stardom. These days Akimoto is no longer aspiring – she’s now a popular actress, DJ and social media maven in addition to being a successful model.
4. Jing Wen (@jingwenll)
Freckled Vixen
Another Louis Vuitton favourite, Jing Wen’s flawless facial features and unique freckles have captured the hearts of numerous magazine editors and creative directors. The 5’10” model has walked down the biggest runways, including Chanel, Gucci and Valentino. On top of multiple appearances in Vogue China, she counts Louis Vuitton creative director Nicolas Ghesquière as a big fan, after he put her on the LV runway and in a lookbook shot by German photographer Juergen Teller.
5. Dara Warganegara (@darawarganegara)
Femme Fatale
The day Warganegara took her university ID photo at her neighbourhood photo studio, she met the now popular Indonesian fashion photographer Glenn Prasetya, who introduced her to the fashion world. Since then she has appeared on the cover of Grazia Indonesia and Marie Claire Hong Kong, and in editorials for Harper’s Bazaar Indonesia looking like royalty. With her mesmerising gaze and high fashion looks, we expect to see more of Warganegara in the coming years. She also holds a degree in Chinese Language and wishes to become an interpreter after modelling.
